Butterfinger

The crispy, peanutty, chocolaty taste of a Butterfinger bar is legendary. There is just something about how a Butterfinger crunches while you eat it and fills your mouth with lip smacking peanut taste. For more than 80 years, young and old alike have enjoyed its taste alongside its sister candy bar, Baby Ruth.

Do you remember going to the store to decide which candy bar you were going to buy? It was always a tough decision between Baby Ruth and Butterfinger. Both candy bars went great with a bottle of soda.

Butterfinger was invented in 1923 by the Curtis Candy Company based in Chicago. They are the same company that invented the Baby Ruth bar. While it may seem it got its name from its peanut butter taste, that's not true. In the 1920's, they ran a contest to give it a name and because of its tendency to crumble while its being eaten, people came up with Butterfinger. Butterfinger is slang for a clumsy or awkward person. Get it?

Butterfingers are sold around the world and for years it's spokesman was Bart Simpson. Not anymore. Butterfinger was moved onto better things and even flirted with a name change to The Finger in a 2008 April Fool's Day joke put out my its current maker Nestle.
